Millions to see cup kings honoured

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League cup kings Stourbridge are looking forward to being honoured in front of millions of fans around world at the Emirates FA Cup Final.

The Glassboys - who booked their place in the third round with a memorable 1-0 win over Northampton Town - are set be feted before kick-off at Wembley with seven other clubs who made their mark on the world's oldest cup competition this season.

Along with representatives sporting their club colours from Lincoln City, Guernsey FC, Millwall, Sutton United, Westfields and finalists Arsenal and Chelsea, Stourbridge vice-chairman Andy Bullingham will be on the hallowed turf belting out the traditional FA Cup Final hymn ‘Abide with Me’ with the backing of a 30 strong choir and The Band of The Royal Logistics Corps!

Gary Hackett's cup heroes also came close to collecting another accolade at the national stadium in front of a global audience after being nominated by the Football Association for their FA Cup Giant-Killers Award this season. Despite Jack Duggan's memorable goal sealing a 1-0 win over the Cobblers at a packed War Memorial Ground and their heroic exit at Wycombe Wanderers in front of more than 2,000 travelling fans, the Glassboys won't have been surprised to lose out to Non-League FA Cup quarter-finalists Lincoln City.

Stourbridge chairman Andy Pountney has also been invited to attend the final and together with Bullingham, will see one of the club's proud records in the cup tumble when Arsenal and Chelsea kick-off. Currently locked on 28 FA Cup tie wins in the last eight seasons with both finalists, Saturday’s winners will extend their record to 29 and knock the EVO-STIK NPL's cup kings off their shared perch.

The FA’s head of pro game relations Andy Ambler said: “It has been a historic season for the Emirates FA Cup and we were keen to pay tribute to a number of clubs at all levels of the football pyramid who provided the watching world with memorable moments. The singing of ‘Abide with Me’ remains one of the iconic moments on FA Cup Final day and therefore it seemed highly appropriate to bring the clubs into the heart of this tradition.”
