EVO-STIK League Leek Town are mourning the passing of former chairman Eric Oliver after a long illness.
Officials at the First Division South's Blues announced on Monday that they will hold a minute's silence for their former chairman who was 92 at Harrison Park later this month when they host Stafford Rangers.
A munitions officer in the Second World War, he returned to Leek following his 'demob' to get involved at the club's then Hamil Park and its purchase back in the 1950s.
During his time with the Blues he served in virtually every role from ground-staff to gateman to treasurer and chairman. He still kept in touch in recent years but was forced to follow the club’s progress by phone.
A Leek Town spokesman said: "The club sends its sincere condolences to Audrey and all his family and friends – a minute's silence will be observed at Blues’ home game against Stafford Rangers on Bank Holiday Monday."
