Monday's First Division North action review

EVO-STIK League

There were a couple of matches in the EVO-STIK League's First Division North on Monday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Harrogate Railway Athletic managed a second win in six games at Station View against Clitheroe – but left it very, very late, top scorer Nathan Cartman going from villain to hero in the space of a few minutes!

The normally reliable Cartman had a great chance to win the game in the 82nd minute when Railway were awarded a penalty, but he saw his effort saved by Matt Green. However, in the 91st minute, Cartman made amends when he popped up with the only goal of the game – his seventh of the season to date.

Radcliffe Borough moved up to sixth in the fledgling table after gaining a point from a 2-2 draw at New Mills.

But it was so nearly all three points for Boro as they twice led before finally being pegged back in injury-time. Michael McGinlay gave the visitors a 12th minute lead that Kyle Parsons cancelled out in the 25th minute.

But three minutes into the second half Boro re-took the lead through Chris Mason. New Mills twice came back from being behind to draw at Clitheroe last Friday night and they proceeded to do the same again as Daniel Douglas-Pringle grabbed a last-gasp leveller to show there is plenty of spirit in the Millers` squad.
