Droylsden moved into second place, level on points with third-placed Salford City and leaders Darlington 1883 following an odd goal in five win at New Mills in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North on Monday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Having beaten FA Cup heroes Warrington Town on Saturday, the Bloods were looking to make it back-to-back wins and started well as Ciaran Kilheeney put them in front after 12 minutes. And it got even better for the Tamesiders as Adam Morning doubled their advantage five minutes later.

Ten minutes from time Kevin Leadbetter made it 3-0 but the Millers pulled two back through Matt Landregan and Porya Ahmadi in the final three minutes as both teams ended with ten-men.

Monday's other game saw Scarborough Athletic travel the relatively short distance to Station View to play Harrogate Railway looking to consolidate fifth place. Instead, they ended up on the wrong end of a 3-0 drubbing and later saw manager Rudi Funk resign.

It was a poor performance from Boro, who were hammered 4-0 at home by Darlington in the FA Trophy on Saturday, and they barely had a shot on target.

The impressive Nathan Cartman put Rail in front after 36 minutes and Malachi Farquharson added a second five minutes into the second half. Victory was assured when Cartman notched his second on 69 minutes.
