The reigning North West Counties League champions and FA Vase runners-up have taken the momentum from last season`s most successful season ever into the higher level and moved above Northwich Victoria, courtesy of a 4-2 win at Station View against Harrogate Railway Athletic.
But they had to come back from being a 38th minute Harry Brown goal down to win. David Young eventually equalised after 57 minutes and just three minutes later Glossop were in front through Ashley Stott.
However, Rob Worrall pulled Rail back on level terms after 71 minutes, only for Stott to notch his second to make it 3-2 just seven minutes later and then Ed Moran to made sure of the points a couple of minutes after that.
Monday's other game saw Brighouse Town end Prescot Cables` mini three-match unbeaten run with a 5-3 success at the Dual Seal Stadium.
An end-to-end thriller saw Steve Hollingsworth put the hosts ahead after 15 minutes. Lloyd Dean equalised nine minutes later and then Cables took the lead five minutes before the break through Joe Nicholson.
Dan Facey pulled Brighouse back on level terms immediately after the interval and on 53 minutes they were 3-2 in front, courtesy of Ryan Hall. Facey`s second pulled the home side further ahead just past the hour-mark, only for Rob Doran to drag Cables back into the game nine minutes later.
The next goal was the crucial one though – and it was Brighouse who got it, thanks to Ernest Boafo`s penalty with 13 minutes remaining.
