Monday's First Division North action review

By David Watters

Second-bottom Harrogate Railway suffered a narrow defeat to Burscough for the second time this season in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North on Monday night as the Linnets triumphed 2-1, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Mark Beesley’s play-off chasers raced into a two-goal lead at Station View inside 16 minutes with skipper Paul Williams dispatching a free-kick after nine minutes and Will Jones finishing from close range seven minutes later.

Railway soon got into gear though, and halved the deficit through Nathan Curtis’ far post volley after 28 minutes.

The half that followed was largely one-way traffic in Railway’s favour but Burscough held firm to move back into the play-off positions at the expense of Clitheroe.
