Monday's First Division South action review

Evo-Stik NPL

With Curzon Ashton's home Evo-Stik NPL First Division North game against Prescot Cables falling foul of the heavy rains and floods over the last 24 hours, the only game to go ahead on Monday night was on the 3G at Coles Lane where Romulus entertained Halesowen Town in the NPL First Division South, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Unfortunately for the host side, they were left to rue a host of missed chances, slipping to a single goal from Jean-Michel Gueyes seven minutes from time.

The Yeltz scored the only goal of the game when Gueyes cut inside left-back Ray Facey and took advantage of some hesitancy from Roms keeper Lewis Exall who could only watch the ball agonisingly creep over the line.

The home side had largely dominated the contest but couldn't find a way through with two efforts cleared off the line and a further pair of goalmouth scrambles coming to nothing – former Halesowen striker Naveed Arshad missing one golden opportunity.

Romulus also hit the woodwork when another former Yeltz player, Dexter Ravenhill, headed substitute Nathan Jackson’s cross against the post.
