Monday night's win and the run has lifted Colls well clear of the drop zone and up to 14th in the table. As for their Yorkshire visitors, they are still looking over their shoulders at the bottom of the table, although they do possess a seven-point cushion at present.
Things didn't start well for Brighouse when they had debutant Oran Thompson, signed on 'work experience' from Premier League neighbours Huddersfield Town, sent-off after just 29 minutes for a two-footed lunge on Brad Cooke.
Colls managed to break the deadlock three minutes before half-time with a neat half-volleyed finish from Ben Hardcastle. And they doubled their advantage on the hour-mark when a cross was dealt with and Vinnie Bailey was on hand to volley into the bottom corner.
And as Brighouse ran out of steam with ten-men, the hosts bagged two more goals in the final five minutes – the first from a Hardcastle penalty and the second when Adam Farrell took the ball round the keeper to score into an empty net.
