Monday's Premier Division action review

Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division

The only game in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Premier Division on Monday night saw Ilkeston FC host lower mid-table Rushall Olympic as they looked to move into fourth place in the table, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

However, in the end, a crowd of 385 saw the Pics return to the West Midlands with all three points, thanks to a freakish own goal.

The home side came out firing on all cylinders in the opening 20 minutes and Rushall did well to keep them at bay. The visitors did pose a threat on the breakaway and forced Ilkeston keeper Lloyd Allinson – on loan from Huddersfield Town - into a good double save in the 10th minute.

The Pics suffered a blow though just before the half-hour mark when they lost midfielder Lee Downes to a serious-looking injury. Downes was stretchered off and the break seemed to affect the Robins as three minutes after the incident they conceded the opening goal.

It was two home loanees who were involved in the incident as Allinson failed to control a back pass from Leicester City's Jamie Anton and the ball sneaked under his foot and into the back of the net.

The hosts went on to dominate most of the second half possession and had several chances to pull level but the Pics battled hard and managed to keep a clean sheet to take home the points.
