Monday's Premier Division action review

By David Watters

Stourbridge made it eight wins in nine games and climbed to second place in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Premier Division table on Monday night with a 2-0 win against Sutton Coldfield Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

First half goals from Karl Hawley and Justin Richards - against his former club - sealed the points against a Royals side who started the evening in third place.

In truth, the margin of victory should probably have been wider as the Glassboys dominated the second period.

Before that, Hawley flicked a header over the Sutton keeper from Ben Billingham’s cross on 26 minutes to open the scoring, and then Richards drove a shot inside the near post seven minutes before half-time.

Sutton's cause was not helped when striker Luke Rogers flew into a challenge on Billingham just before the break to earn a red card, and Stourbridge went on to control the second half without turning their possession into goals.
