NLP 2014 National Game Awards

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League champion Andy Teague and Skelmersdale United were among the big winners at The Non-League Paper’s 2014 National Game Awards on Tuesday.

The paper’s prestigious 11th annual awards returned this year to Fulham’s Craven Cottage and saw Tommy Lawson's Skelmersdale United named as the winners of The PFA Fair Play Award and Chorley's championship winning captain unveiled as the Betbright Step 3 & 4 Player of the Year.

The 28-year-old has been making headlines on and off the pitch this season leading the Premier Division’s champions by sporting one of one of Non-League football’s most famous handlebar moustaches for charity.

After the Magpies clinched the championship and promotion on the final day of the season, he was finally able to shave off his facial hair stunt to raise awareness of the Twincess campaign, inspired by three-year-old Chorley twins Isobel and Abigail Parry who have Down’s syndrome.

Teague, pictured with the club's silverware after their title-winning 2-0 victory at Buxton, later raised a further £500 for the campaign when he shaved it off in front of celebrating fans at Victory Park.
