Evo-Stik Northern Premier League hot-shot Jack Muldoon has thanked Mark Shaw and his coaching staff at Worksop Town for helping him turn his childhood dream into a reality by winning a one year contract at Rochdale.

After notching 21 goals for the Premier Division’s Tigers last season, the 24-year-old is set to link up with the newly promoted League One outfit on June 1 after leaving on Thursday to become their first summer signing.

Muldoon, pictured in the dugout at The Dale, has been training regularly there since the start of the year with manager Keith Hill’s squad and reckons his big chance is all down to Shaw and everybody else at Sandy Lane who’s supported him.

The former Scunthorpe United, Brigg Town, Sheffield FC and North Ferriby United striker said: "I’m made up by the move, I was beginning to think I would never get a deal [with a pro club] so I’m absolutely over the moon. It hasn’t really sunk in yet, it’s a childhood dream come true.

"I want to say a huge thank you to the fans [at Worksop]. They have been absolutely brilliant getting behind me and the lads, superb every week, travelling all over the country I could not have asked for more support; they are the best.

"Mark [Shaw], Shutts and all the staff and players have been so good to me, helping me improve, helping me get this move. They are like a family to me. Thank you. As for the club, I love it, everyone has been so helpful I couldn’t have asked for a better crowd to work with."

He added: "If I hadn’t signed a pro contract I had already agreed with Mark I would re-sign for the Tigers next season. I want to wish the Tigers all the best for the future and hope they win the Evo-Stik Prem next season."

Dale manager Hill is predicting a bright future for his new forward. "Jack’s not a household name at the moment, but he will be, don’t worry about that," said Hill. "I’m not afraid to take him into League One at all - he’ll be a pleasant surprise."
