Nantwich and NPL bow out of FA Cup

Nantwich Town bowed out of the FA Cup with a 1-0 defeat to AFC Fylde in front of 1,544 fans at the Weaver Stadium.

Ryan Croasdale's goal shortly before half time was enough to secure the National League side victory, despite a brave effort from the Dabbers, who were the last representative of the Northern Premier League in this year's competition.

Chairman Tony Davison said: "On behalf of the board of Nantwich Town Football Club, I want to pass on a thank you to everyone involved in the Emirates FA Cup First Round Proper tie with AFC Fylde.

"It was a massive team effort right across the club – from staff, volunteers, Dave Cooke, the management team, players and supporters alike. I’d like to wish a big thank you to them all. The fans created a truly memorable atmosphere and got behind the team for the full ninety-plus minutes.

"While the result did not go in our favour, the team has taken the club on a memorable journey. We now look forward to another big cup match on Tuesday evening as we host Coalville Town in the Buildbase FA Trophy and in our next League game against Grantham Town on Saturday. Both are real opportunities to see the team progress in our search for silverware.

"Having won the support of the Town during our cup run, it would be wonderful if this could continue; spurring the side to further success."
