Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Matlock Town have appointed Steve Heath as their new Football Development Manager.
Heath, pictured, is currently the General Manager of the Premier Division club’s development side - Matlock Town Cavendish Football Academy. Playing in the Midlands Regional Alliance’s senior league, the team was launched this season to bring young players through and takes its name from its home ground at Cavendish Fields.
The Gladiators, who announced the 47-year-old's appointment on Wednesday, say he brings many years of experience working with other football agencies, in football administration and in junior team management to the role of overseeing the development of their affiliated teams - Matlock Town Reserves, Matlock Town CFA and Matlock Town U19s and U18s.
A fan of the Premier Division club for more than 40 years, Heath is also the Vice-Chairman of Cavendish Fields Sports Association, a charitable organisation providing football facilities for the local community that he has been involved with for ten years.
Before taking over the club's new development side, Heath spent approximately 15 years with Matlock Junior Football in numerous roles including manager, coach, club welfare officer, secretary and Vice-Chairman.
Heath said: "I wish to thank the Chairman Tom Wright and all at the Matlock Town Management Committee for their full support and I look forward to being part of the future progression and development of Matlock Town Football Club."
