New goalkeeper for Mossley

Mossley have announced the arrival of goalkeeper Chris Cheetham.

The 29-year-old started his footballing career in the Bradford City youth team before going on to represent with Radcliffe, Ashton United, Atherton LR, Atherton Collieries, Southport and Northwich Victoria.

He joins up with the Lilywhites following Tom Watson’s return to parent club Wigan Athletic.

Manager David Fish said: “When looking at a goalkeeper to bring in, I wanted experience, calmness and consistency; Chris brings all this in spades, and I’m looking forward to seeing him make his Lilywhites debut.

"A good goalkeeper wins you points over the season, and I’m certain Chris will do that for us this campaign.

“We’re also looking to bring in a couple of young keepers to the club, and I’m certain Chris’ influence will be invaluable to their development.”
