New Mariners duo beat deadline to play

Marine

Striker Karl Noon and midfielder Dale Wright could both feature for Marine at Whitby Town on Saturday after beating the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League’s registration deadline.

The Premier Division's Mariners announced on Friday that Noon, pictured, had signed from Vauxhall Motors while midfielder Wright had arrived from First Division North Northwich Victoria.

Noon, 27, returns to Marine after departing earlier in the year to join Warrington Town. The much travelled striker moved on to Vauxhall Motors before returning to the Conference North outfit this season after switching to AFC Fylde.

Wright, 24, joined Skelmersdale Utd early in 2011 from Prescot Cables but left in October this year to sign for Northwich Victoria where he captained the Vics. Wright scored for Skelmersdale United in the early season game at the Arriva Stadium when the current league leaders were held to a 2-2 derby draw.

Marine Chairman Paul Leary said: "These are two good signings for Marine as we bid to become more consistent with our results and therefore our ambition to achieve a play-off place. Karl is an experienced and popular striker who will do well and I hope that he will now settle down and stay at Marine and help us to have some level of success for the remainder of the season and thereafter. Dale is a busy goal scoring midfielder who will help bolster our midfield and present more options for Phil in that area."

Marine manager Phil Brazier was delighted with the latest recruits to his squad and added: "I am really pleased with these signings at this important part of the season as we reach the half way stage. Dale and Karl are players, whose arrival, will make a difference. I look forward to them playing for Marine and helping me to improve further our league placing.

"It has been a busy 24 hours for the club to obtain their signatures and registrations in time for tomorrow’s game at Whitby Town but everyone has worked well together to ensure it has happened and I am delighted at that.”
