New signing for Widnes

Widnes have announced the signing of towering forward Josh Quarless.

The 26-year-old has completed a switch from 1874 Northwich following a seven-day notice of approach and is eligible for today’s game at Clitheroe.

Measuring at 6’7, Quarless scored over 20 goals last season across spells at Burscough and City of Liverpool.

He netted eight times in 26 games for the latter under Michael Ellison, who he is now re-united with after penning terms with the Whites.

Outside of football, Josh hails from a sporting family. Dad Noel is a former professional heavyweight boxer who fought a young Lennox Lewis in 1990.
