Newboy couldn't wait to get started

Welsh defender James Jones told Altrincham fans he couldn't wait to get started before helping Phil Parkinson's side secure their first three points of the EVO-STIK League season on Tuesday night.

Signed on Monday on the eve of the 1-0 win over Whitby Town at the J. Davidson Stadium, the 20-year-old had already impressed as a trialist in July after leaving Welsh Premier outfit The New Saints where he'd graduated from their academy to the first team in under three seasons.

Using his Twitter account @jamesoliver_97, Jones, pictured, told fans before kick-off: "Really happy to sign for @altrinchamfc big non league club with a big fanbase. Looking forward to tonights game".

Alty were in need of reinforcements before manager Phil Parkinson's latest addition with Chris Lynch having left Moss Lane, Tom Hannigan suspended, Shaun Densmore abroad and forwards Josh Amis and Sean Miller still recuperating from injury.
