NPL Play-off Finals confirmed - round-up

By James Gordon

The six play-off finalists in the EVO-STIK League have been confirmed.

EVO-STIK PREMIER DIVISION
South Shields v Warrington Town

EVO-STIK EAST DIVISION
Pontefract Collieries v Brighouse Town

EVO-STIK WEST DIVISION
Radcliffe v Leek Town

All of the winners in the play-off semi-finals were the home team.

Leek Town completed the line-up with a 2-1 win over Colne, in a game put back to Wednesday due to Colne's involvement in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy final on Monday.

Tim Grice's goal one minute from the end of extra time gave Leek the victory, after Rob Stevenson and Reece Webb-Foster had exchanged first half goals.

On Tuesday night, South Shields and Warrington Town both overturned 1-0 half-time deficits to hit four.

Shields were given a fright by Buxton, who led 1-0 and also equalised at 2-2 despite being down to 10 men.

Carl Finnigan finished with a brace and Josh Gillies made sure late on.

Two second half headers from Ben Garrity helped Warrington bounce back from Callum Saunders' acrobatic opener for Nantwich at Cantilever Park.

A Jack Dunn free-kick crashed against the crossbar and in off the unfortunate Lloyd Allinson before Tony Gray's injury-time volley added gloss to the scoreline and set up a second v third clash on Saturday for a place in the super play-off final.

Facing Leek on Saturday are Radcliffe, who eased past Ramsbottom United 3-0.

Radcliffe had pushed leaders Atherton Collieries until the final few weeks of the season, and won thanks to goals from Scott Metcalfe, Tunde Owolabi and Ben Wharton.

In the East Division, Pontefract Collieries needed extra time to eventually see off Ossett United 3-1, having trailed through Tom Greaves.

Colls will face Brighouse Town in the final, after they came from a goal down to beat Sheffield 3-1.

Marc Newsham fired Sheffield in front, but goals from Tyler Williams and Aaron Martin on the stroke of half time gave Brighouse an advantage that they would double nine minutes from time.

All the games take place on Saturday May 4, 3pm kick-off.
