Ashton United climbed up to second in the league table with a dramatic 4-3 win at home to Morpeth Town.

A Jason Gilchrist hat-trick helped the Robins into a 4-0 lead shortly after half-time, but three goals in 11 second half minutes gave Morpeth a lifeline.

However, those goals proved to be scant consolation for the Highwaymen as they were beaten on their travels.

There were eight goals scored at the Northolme as Gainsborough Trinity maintained their unbeaten home start with a thrilling 5-3 victory over Matlock Town.

There were five different scorers for the Holy Blues as they picked up just their third win of the season.

FC United of Manchester recorded their first win in five as a Luke Griffiths double helped them to a 5-2 triumph away at Marske United.

Nathan Thomas and Lewis Leech scored in either half for the struggling Seasiders, who have now won just one of their opening 11 league games.

The final match of the round saw Hyde United come from behind to seal all three points away at Atherton Collieries.

Joe Adams gave Colls the lead midway through the first half, but Jack Redshaw equalised shortly before half-time then volleyed home the winner near the hour mark.
