NPL welcomes TV deal news

It has been announced that the Premier League’s £4.8bn deal with existing partners Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC Sport and Amazon Prime has been renewed until 2025.


As part of the deal, an extra £100m of funding will be available to more than 1,000 clubs in the National League system (including the NPL), women’s and girls’ football, EFL League One and League Two clubs and the Football Foundation.

NPL chairman, Mark Harris, said: "This is good news for non league football although we don’t yet have any details of what monies will filter down to NLS clubs, how or when.

"However the fact that, following the financial support our clubs received from the Premier League last autumn, our level of the game is again recognised shows that we are making progress."

The Premier League announced the deal following approval in principle from the Government.

The additional £100m will be provided over the next four years only, extending to areas of the football community particularly vulnerable to the impacts of COVID-19.
