North Shields have signed former Sunderland defender or midfielder Connor Oliver.

Oliver, 28, came through the ranks at the Stadium of Light before moving on to Hartlepool United.

He made 10 appearances for Championship side Blackpool and went on loan to League 2 side Morecambe.

His other former clubs include North Ferriby, Halifax Town, Blyth Spartans and Morpeth Town, where he made 24 appearances.

Oliver said: “I am delighted to Join North Shields. I’ve known Nashy since I was a kid and when I was introduced to Woody I instantly clicked with him. I’m looking forward to being local to my family and just enjoying my football. Everyone I have spoke to have said how well the club is ran and these are people I trust.”

North Shields are new to the NPL for 2022/23 season and will play in the NPL East Division.
