Blyth Spartans manager Paddy Atkinson resigned from the Croft Park hot-seat on Friday night.
Atkinson, pictured, who took over from Tommy Cassidy as caretaker manager in October and was appointed permanently the following month, stood down at the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club following a meeting with Chairman Tony Platten.
Atkinson cited increasing work commitments for his decision and Spartans say he timed his announcement to give them sufficient time to organise a new management structure for next season. The Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division outfit also revealed they are considering an offer by Atkinson to stay on and help out in other capacities.
Assistant manager Tom Wade was due to take charge for Saturday's trip to Nantwich Town before heavy rain saw the fixture postponed. Blyth say further meetings are set to take place over the coming days to decide on their next move following Atkinson's departure and that announcements will be made in due course.
A club spokesman thanked their outgoing manager and added: "In his time at Spartans, he was committed to the club and was achieving the objectives set by the board. Blyth Spartans wishes to thank Paddy for all that he has done for the club. We also wish him well and good luck for the future."
