Platt can thank fans for new smile

After losing four teeth during a clash of heads against Tividale back in August, pictured, supporters teamed up with the club to launch their "Put a smile on Platty' campaign.

After being publicised in last Sunday's Non-League Paper, more than 50 people have now donated nearly £800 towards the £3000 the player needs to match the Professional Football Association's contribution towards his treatment bill.

The 23-year-old keeper said: "I was expecting to have to pay for most of it myself so the response from everryone has been fantastic and I want to thank everyone who has donated.

"The lads are all doing a sponsored wax to raise extra cash so that should be funny and the fans have been incredibly supportive."

Urging fans to keep the campaign going, a club spokesman said: "Since the football club's and most sports injury insurance does not cover dental work Dan has been left with a huge bill of over £6,000 to pay for reconstruction of his front four teeth.

"Please contribute as much as you can. All the funds from this appeal will go directly to Dan."
