Play suspended at cup clash

By David Watters

Basford United defender Jack Sheridan is feared to have broken his leg in his side's FA Trophy clash at EVO-STIK Northern Premier League rivals Stamford.

The former Boston United defender was hurt six minutes before the break with the sides drawing 0-0 at the Zeeco Stadium in Saturday's preliminary round tie.

Play was suspended for nearly an hour with the player being treated on the pitch while medics awaited the arrival of an ambulance to take him to Peterborough hospital. The fixture is expected to finish around 6pm after both teams decided to play on.
