Popular physio needs a successor

Conchie, pictured in action, was appointed nearly four years go and the EVO-STIK League club's officials say he is set to leave the Shawbridge after a family bereavement forced him to relocate.

The successful candidate for the part-time role will report to manager Simon Haworth, offering pitch and pitchside treatment including support and rehabilitation on training nights at varied locations and at the first team's home and away fixtures.

Clitheroe chairman Anne Barker paid tribute to the club's out-going physio on Monday and said newly qualified sports and physiotherapists would be considered for the post.

"Sadly Jay is being forced to relocate after a bereavement and we all also sorry to see him go. He was so professional and well thought of by all the players and staff here and was probably the best physio we have ever had.

"His successor must be qualified but we are very happy to help the right candidate taking their first steps in the industry and football. They'll have great support and the experience they'll gain will be invaluable. Potential candidates should contact myself or go through the club and we'll be happy to explain what the role involves and what we are looking for."

NHS worker and track athlete Conchie used his Twitter account on Monday to thank everyone at the Blues for their support during his time at the club, @jayconchie tweeting: "Would like to thank everyone @ClitheroeFC past and present for everything during the past three and a half seasons. They’ve allowed me to gain some invaluable experience and I’ve met some great people along the way. Will always be a fan of that great club."
