Powell goes at rock bottom Linnets

Burscough are looking for a new manager to secure their EVO-STIK Northern Premier League status after Dave Powell left the Linnets on Sunday.

Appointed in July as the successor to Mark Beesley at Victoria Park, the former Prescot Cables boss and assistant manager at Radcliffe Borough, Ashton United and Warrington Town, pictured, was relieved of his duties on Sunday after his rock bottom side's latest reverse in EVO-STIK NPL First Division North, Saturday's 1-0 defeat at home to Ossett Town.

In a statement announcing Powell's departure and thanking him for his services, officials at the Linnets said coaches Keith McCann and Simon Hardman were set to meet with director of football Dave Sutton on Monday as the club looked to appoint an interim management team.

A spokesman said: "On behalf of the club's owners, directors and committee, we would like to put on record our thanks to Dave for is efforts and commitments shown to Burscough Football Club and wish him every success for the future."
