Premier Division preview: Key battles for top four as relegation fight intensifies

By James Gordon

South Shields will look to get their title charge back on track as they host promotion-chasing Hyde United on Saturday afternoon.

It has been a difficult last seven days for the Mariners, who were forced to rescue a late equaliser at Stalybridge Celtic last Saturday before falling to a 2-1 defeat at home to FC United of Manchester in midweek.

They will face a Hyde side also looking to return to winning ways following their 1-0 defeat at second-placed Radcliffe last weekend.

In the weekend’s other notable action, second faces off against fourth as Radcliffe welcome Warrington Town to the Neuven Stadium.

It will be a tough test of the Boro’s promotion credentials, up against a Yellows side that are currently on a club-record 16-match unbeaten run in the league.

Further down the division, there are some big games in the fight for survival, with the bottom three all at home.

Two of the sides looking to steer themselves closer to safety, Morpeth Town and Stalybridge Celtic, will also meet at Craik Park.

All fixtures will take place on Saturday 18 March at 3pm, unless stated otherwise.
