Premier Division round-up: Guiseley and Rylands back to winning ways

By James Gordon

Guiseley ended a run of three straight defeats in the Northern Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Matlock Town on Tuesday night.

Reece Kendall’s own-goal and a low finish from Jake Cassidy either side of half-time set the hosts on their way, before Alex Wiles pulled one back for the Gladiators just after the hour mark.

Nevertheless, Guiseley held on to seal all three points and climb up to ninth in the table.

Elsewhere, Warrington Rylands recovered from Saturday’s 4-2 defeat to Matlock with an emphatic 3-0 win at home to Marske United.

The visitors, sat fourth in the table, were no match on the night for Jody Banim’s side at Gorsey Lane.

Kane Drummond and Jak McCourt set the Blues on their way before Callum Dolan scored in his third consecutive game, converting from the penalty spot with 11 minutes remaining.
