Premier Division round-up: Yellows to face Brig in play-off final

By James Gordon

Warrington Town will welcome Bamber Bridge to Cantilever Park on Monday, after both sides came through their respective Northern Premier League play-off semi-finals.

Town were able to beat fifth-placed Matlock Town 4-1, with all of their goals coming in the first half.

Luke Duffy grabbed two, with Bohan Dixon and Connor Woods completed the scoring. Bradley Abbott scored a late consolation for the Gladiators.

Meanwhile, Brig advanced after beating Gainsborough Trinity in a dramatic penalty shoout-out at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.

Rhys Turner gave the hosts the lead, before Curtis Durose levelled the game shortly before half-time.

That was the way it stayed after 90 minutes and extra-time, despite the Brig being down to 10 men from the 56th minute onwards after Nathan Pond was shown a straight red card.

After seven perfect penalties, Isaac Rice saw his penalty saved by James Pradic, leaving Macauley Wilson to score the winning penalty and send Brig to within a game of the National League North.

The final will take place on Monday afternoon, and will kick off at 3pm.
