EVO-STIK NPL Club of the Month Awards

Blyth Spartans, Harrogate Railway Athletic and Mickleover Sports will kick off the New Year by collecting the final EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Club of the Month accolades of 2014.

After being named as the latest winners of the monthly honours on Tuesday, representatives of the league and Bostik Ltd, parent company of the league’s title sponsors EVO-STIK, will be at their first home fixtures of 2015 on Saturday to present the trio with 4.5 litre bottles of Bells Whiskey and inscribed certificates to mark their achievements.

League vice-president Phil Bradley and EVO-STIK NPL operations manager Alan Allcock are heading to Croft Park to present Blyth Spartans with the Premier Division's accolade before they kick off in the FA Cup's Third Round against Birmingham City.

The fixture is a fitting choice for the presentation to Tom Wade's side as they won the honour for their performances in the FA Cup, a 2-1 win at League Two Hartlepool United's Victoria Park on December 5 continuing the club's famous run of giant-killings in the world's oldest cup competition.

Wade's side didn't let their cup heroics effect their league form either, going on to record three league wins, including a 7-1 victory at Grantham Town before their only reverse in December, a 1-0 defeat at Whitby Town in their last outing.

Ironically, only the FA Cup heroics of another EVO-STIK NPL club, Warrington Town for their win over Exeter City, stopped Harrogate Railway Athletic from collecting November's First Division North accolade.

After kicking off December with a 7-1 win on the first day of the month over Frickley Athletic in the second round of the Doodson Sport Cup and going on to record four wins and a draw to climb into the play-off places, Billy Smith's side are deserved winners this time around and will be presented with the award at Station View by EVO-STIK NPL director Neville Wigglesworth before taking on Ossett Albion.

First Division South winners Mickleover Sports will be presented with their award before hosting Stocksbridge Park Steels at Station Road by EVO-STIK NPL representative Mark Ogley.

Under the guidance of joint managers Glen Kirkwood and Craig Hopkins, the Sports are second in the table and the division's top performers with five league wins and a single reverse in December. Along the way, their in-form title chasers banged in 21 goals.
