Purps bolster midfield

City of Liverpool FC have announced the signing of versatile midfielder Kenny Strickland from Skelmersdale United.

Strickland is reunited with his former boss, Paul McNally, having played under him at Skelmersdale, making over 300 appearances for the side.

The 32-year-old began at Manchester United and Chelsea’s U18 sides before having spells at Marine and Skelmersdale from 2010 onwards.

On the signing of Strickland, McNally said “Kenny is a top player who will bring more leadership qualities to the squad.

“He has a vast amount of experience of this level and that will be valuable in the coming months ahead.”

Strickland could be expected to make his debut this Saturday ahead of their home fixture against Kidsgrove Athletic.
