Quinn is back as new Ducks boss

Quinn, who left his role at Brighouse Town at the end of last season having enjoyed a highly-successful six years taking the club up into EVO-STIK League North, was named on Tuesday afternoon as the new Ducks boss.

In a statement announcing his return as the successor to Craig Elliott following his departure to manage Boston United last week, officials at the EVO-STIK League Premier Division club's Sheerien Park said Quinn would be assisted by John Reed after he agreed to carry on in the role with Dave Thompson as first-team coach.

Quinn, pictured, is set to meet his new squad at training on Wednesday night ahead of a trip to Nantwich Town on Saturday in the EVO-STIK League's top flight. Shaw Lane chairman Craig Wood believes they've bagged the perfect successor to Elliott who guided the Ducks to three promotions in four years before leaving for the National League North's Pilgrims.

Wood told the club`s fans: “When we began the process of identifying a new manager we established the profile of candidate we needed to take the club forward and Paul Quinn was a perfect fit. His attention to detail, knowledge of our squad, along with a very good understanding of the Evo-Stik League and clubs around us were extremely impressive."

He added: "He quickly emerged as the outstanding candidate and I delighted that Paul has joined us to reinforce our potential which will be significantly aided by his expertise.”

Quinn said: “Having enjoyed a period of time to recharge the batteries I am delighted to have been appointed at Shaw Lane. This is a club I have admired for a number of years in terms of their drive and ambition both on and off the field.

"It also goes without saying I have created a deep emotional attachment with the club over recent times. Taking all that into consideration and my own ambitions as a manager, both myself and the chairman agreed this was an excellent fit.

“It is always a challenge when any club has to change their manager mid-season for whatever reason and my role, along with John Reed and the backroom staff, is to push this talented group of players forward over the coming months."

He added: "Finally, I am really looking forward to helping the club to continue to build its profile in the community which for me is an integral part of any successful football club.”
