Following over two years of project planning, it has now been confirmed that the project has just won £1.8m from the Premier League, The FA and the Football Foundation, to add to the £600,000 already pledged by Bury Council.
The state-of-the-art floodlit pitch will be built at Redbank playing fields, along with associated parking, a new changing pavilion with club room and grass pitch improvements at the home of Radcliffe Juniors.
The pitch will play an important part in the wider regeneration of Radcliffe, bringing opportunities for residents to improve their health and physical activity levels while supporting the aspirations of Radcliffe FC and Radcliffe Juniors.
It will be managed by the Radcliffe Football Foundation, working with user groups and the local community.
A full planning application has been submitted, with a decision expected early in the New Year.
Radcliffe chairman Paul Hilton said: “We are delighted that the funding for this project is now confirmed. This facility will be an incredible asset to the town, allowing the club to continue to accelerate our progress while enhancing sporting participation for all.
“Together, Radcliffe FC and Radcliffe Juniors strive to be a positive force of pride in the Radcliffe community through our on-field success, youth participation levels and importantly, through our community work.
This project is another endorsement of those values in action. Football is a powerful tool that helps us break down barriers and inspire the next generation, and we take that responsibility seriously."
