Railwaymen manager commits to the club

Shildon have announced that Chris Hughes has committed his future with the club.

Interim manager Chris Hughes, has agreed to become the official first team manager of the Railwaymen until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Following the departure of Ian Clark in October, West Division side Shildon began playing under an interim management setup for the remainder of the month.

Since Hughes took charge, Shildon have produced more positive results despite still sitting 19th in the table.

Hughes spoke to the club’s official site on his future at the club and said: “We are delighted to commit to the club and the long term plan the club has in place.

“We have made changes to the way we train, play and analyse games over the past few weeks.

“The way the players have responded to the changes has been pleasing and we know there is even more to come from them.

“We have seen a more consistent, higher level of performance in the last 4 games and will continue to raise the standards as the weeks go on.

“Our positive relationship with the board, reserve team, U18s and supporters will be key in making this vision a reality and we are committed to the wider vision the club has.”
