Rams appoint new manager

Chadwick, 45, left his role at FC United prior to the start of the 2022/23 season, and has taken up the managerial role at the Rams following Lee Donafee's departure.

Widely regarded as a club legend, Chadwick made 211 appearances for FC United since their formation in 2006, and moved into a coaching role at the club upon hanging up his boots.

Ramsbottom United currently sit at the bottom of the Northern Premier League West Division, and while Chadwick is fully aware of the challenge ahead of him, he is nonetheless embracing it.

"Ramsbottom United is a great club and after meeting them you can see it has not lost it’s passion for football," he said.

"I’d be a fool not to try and help them get to where they want to be, and I’m looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead."

On the appointment, Rams Chairman Harry Williams said: "We wish David all the best. He came over very well in the interview and I expect his no-nonsense attitude to gel well with the players and everyone here at Ramsbottom.

"He knows he has a difficult short-term task ahead of him, but has the belief that he can take the club forward in a positive and successful manner."

Chadwick will kick-start his tenure with a trip to Skelmersdale United on Saturday.
