EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Spalding United have confirmed the departure of manager Pat Rayment on the club's official website following reports on social media on Friday that he had stood after three years at the helm.

According to the report confirming that Rayment, pictured, had resigned, Tulips chairman Chris Toynton will make an official statement on his surprise departure from Sir Halley Stewart Field in due course.

Director of football Bob Don-Duncan, assistant-manager Marcus Ebdon and physiotherapist Sam Seal are reported to be remaining at the Tulips and are likely to take charge for Saturday's league clash at Norton United.

Former Peterborough United professional Rayment took the helm in January 2012 and left with the club enjoying its highest ever league position, fourth in EVO-STIK NPL First Division South.

Rayment previously managed Deeping Rangers and was a player-coach at Kettering Town. As a player he made more than 450 appearances for Corby Town, many as player-manager, and also tuned out for Stamford AFC, Chelmsford City, Gorleston, Diss and Great Yarmouth Town.

At Spalding, Rayment was a member of the club's UCL Championship-winning side of 1998-99 under former Tulips manager Alan Day.
