The attacker will be familiar to the United faithful after spending the latter part of last season on loan from the League One side club and making 17 appearances. He had played in EVO-STIK League North League with Bamber Bridge while on loan earlier in the season, producing a number of good performances including a goal in a 4-0 home win over Goole in November.
His last appearance for Brig in a three month spell came in a 3-1 win over Burscough, a fortnight before arriving at Stormy Corner in February. Howarth made 29 appearances for Rovers during the 2015-16 season, scoring three goals, and was part of the Rovers side which reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
United manager Alan Rogers believes his experience in the division from last season will be a big benefit to his side this season. Speaking after signing the player on Thursday night, he told the club's website: "Remy is another very good addition to our squad. He did great for me last season and I am looking forward to getting him in the squad."
