With the competition already battling with a fixtures backlog in the wake of the snow and ice from January and February, EVO-STIK League officials are working with their club counterparts and match officials to rearrange as many of the postponed matches as possible on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
All bar six of the bank holiday clashes across the EVO-STIK League's three divisions were hit by snow and waterlogging with Buxton and Matlock Town set to try again on Tuesday night after heavy snow in the Peak District dumped four inches of snow on the Silverlands pitch.
The rearrangement saves the Gladiators from a blank Easter after their top flight meeting with Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday fell victim to a waterlogged pitch at their own DCJ Group Arena. By lunchtime on Monday, Barwell and Coalville Town had also rearranged their postponed game for Thursday night, kick-off 7.45pm.
Super Scholars: Chasetown's forking fans
EVO-STIK League South title-chasers Basford United were one of the biggest casualties of the soggy Easter weekend after the postponement of their trip to Carlton Town saw them miss out on the chance to claim the point they need to confirm promotion for a second time after their game at Market Drayton Town on Saturday was also scrubbed.
It wasn't all dooom and gloom though with Chasetown officials hailing the fans who turned up with their garden forks to help ensure their fixture with Romulus at The Scholars Ground could go ahead as planned, pictured.
