Chasetown's rising academy star Jordi Singh Sall has booked his place in the 2014 finals of the 'Search for An Asian Football Star' competition.

The EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Scholars announced on Tuesday that the 17-year-old, pictured, would be heading to Wembley for the climax of the competition which is run by TradeNext Sport and FootballCV.com.

The right-sided midfielder, who can also play as striker, is in his second year on the First Division South club's scholarship scheme. One of the leading lights of the club's academy side, he won through after impressing FootballCV’s FA qualified coaches during the competition's regional finals in Birmingham.

The teenager was named as one of the first eight players from around the country to progress after getting his first taste of first team action at the weekend when he warmed up with the first team before Chasetown's 5-0 win over Norton United in the FA Trophy.

If he makes a first team appearance, he will follow in the footsteps of a number of Asian players who've played for the club including Parminder Matharu who made seven appearances during the 1995-96 season, Darhminder 'Tini' Kaila with six appearances in the 2000-01 season and Harry Singh who made five appearances a year later.

A Scholars spokesman said: "He has done very well in reaching the finals of the competition at Wembley and everyone at the club is right behind him."
