Robins host breakfast broadcasters!

EVO-STIK League Altrincham are looking forward to hosting talkSPORT Radio again after the club led nationwide efforts to encourage greater inclusion and diversity in football on Non-League Day.

After last Saturday's 4-0 win over Rushall Olympics at Moss Lane was designated by Kick It Out as one of four 'Fans for Diversity' fixtures around the country, the national sports station's popular Weekend Sports Breakfast show was broadcast live from the J Davidson Stadium on Sunday morning.

Guests on the show with hosts Georgie Bingham and Tony Cascarino included ex-Manchester City and Scotland striker Paul Dickov, former Sale and England star Mark Cueto and a number of Alty players and staff including Jordan Hulme, Chris Parkes and Richie Bentley.

As well as reaching out to all sections of the local community with a number of activities on Non-League Day 2017, including face-painting, a primary school art competition and live music provided by Trafford Pride, the Robins also welcomed two special guests supporting the initiative - Altrincham and Sale West MP Graham Brady and local surgeon Nasser Kurdy, the victim of a race-hate attack in September when he was stabbed outside a mosque.

The pair are pictured at Moss Lane after the big win and the local MP told the club's fans: "I was delighted to see Nasser Kurdy and I am pleased to see that he has recovered well. In fact, he was back at work operating on his patients the next day. The event was a great success and really showcased Altrincham's community spirit."

Altrincham were chosen to back the 'Fans for Diversity' campaign for the EVO-STIK League alongside three other clubs nationally, the Bostik League's Metropolitan Police, EVO-STIK League Southern Slimbridge and Solihull Moors representing the National League.

The annual campaign is run in partnership with the Football Supporters Federation (FSF) who teamed up with Kick It Out for a series of activities and promotions at the four clubs for the sixth consecutive year. Organisers hoped to encourage greater engagement with a diverse range of communities with the EVO-STIK League's representatives already focusing on encouraging more women to attend football matches this season through its Women At The Game initiative.
