Robins Trials A Success

Several stand out in 'Development Squad'

First team coach, David Powell, has expressed his delight at the response from players at the trials match, held at the Platt Lane Manchester City Academy complex, last Friday evening.

Within a week of announcing Ashton United’s new ‘Development Squad’ initiative, 16 applicants took to the field against a Radcliffe Borough reserve team under the watchful eye of Powell and Manager Danny

Johnson.

Seven have been asked to return for the next scheduled match at Atherton LR this coming Saturday 16th July, whilst several of these also earned an invitation to train alongside the first team squad during the course of this week.

Powell comments “the enthusiasm and attitude during the game was excellent especially as the lads came together for the match as total strangers. A number of the lads really stood out as having potential and this will be tested again alongside other young hopefuls who will join the ranks for the next game against Atherton’s emerging team next Saturday”

The door to the Club will remain open throughout the season, and any other interested players should initially make an approach, with full football background via email to trials@ashtonutd.com
