Roms ready for big stage

Romulus are relishing the prospect of playing in front of a big crowd at Kings Lynn Town this weekend says Roms boss Richard Evans, writes Andy Mitchell.

Evans, pictured, takes his charges to Norfolk on the back of four wins in five games in all competitions and with the Linnets attracting the best crowds in Evo-Stik NPL First Division South, Evans insists his men will enjoy the buoyant atmosphere at the Walks Stadium.

He said: "Our lads will love all that and we won’t go into the match with any fear, it is all down to what we do on the day – we know a little bit about them and what they will be doing."

The Roms then face another tough trip on Tuesday night, travelling to Mickleover Sports where they won 3-0 in the FA Trophy three weeks ago. Evans is confident his teanm can keep their good run going and added: "We’re having a lot of away games at the moment but it is a good test of our current form and with confidence high we will be looking to keep that consistency in our performance.

"They will both be tough away games but we have proved we can cope – we’ll be looking to keep it tight and see how we go."

The two away days come on the back of two cup wins at home for Romulus in the last week, a 2-0 FA Trophy win over Rainworth Miners Welfare before a 4-1 success over Causeway United in the Birmingham Senior Cup.

"We played well in both games," added Evans. "We created plenty of chances and despite letting them in a little bit at the other end a couple of times we were deserving of the wins."

In the Second Qualifying Round of the Trophy, Romulus will host league rivals Hucknall Town at the end of October. The Yellows sit second bottom of the Evo-stik NPL First South table and Evans reckons he's fairly content with the draw.

"It is at home, that is the main thing – it does help having played them and knowing what they are about but they have won two tough games to get here like we have and it’s down to how we turn up on the day."

Romulus will have goalkeeper Dave Clarke available this week and Evans also reported that the rest of his squad is injury free going into Saturday’s big game.
