Club statement on the passing of ex Director and Secretary

It is with great sadness that the Club announces the death of Ron Aldridge yesterday, 12th September.

Ron first became involved with the club as club secretary for a four year period from 1985 to 1989.

His second period of involvement followed his retirement from the Institute of Purchase and Supply. He joined the board in 1999 serving as a director for six years. During his time on the board Ron was at various times safety officer and had a long spell as acting treasurer while Hilary Hudson was ill. He was also involved in the running of the midweek PASE under 19 team in the 2000-01 season.

Ron was a prodigious worker during his spell on the board and a very efficient treasurer who kept a tight rein on the purse strings at a time when the club was struggling a bit financially. He was also a significant shareholder of the club.

After stepping down from the board he continued to be a regular supporter and behind the scenes helper. Until his illness at the start of this season, he rarely missed a game, home or away.

Club Chairman, John Drewnicki, conveyed condolences to Peggy, sons Adam and Simon, daughter-in-law Finola and baby grandson Luke.

We will all miss a true friend and fellow supporter.
