August Manager Of The Month - John Flanagan (Curzon Ashton)

Before Curzon Ashton’s game today against Salford City Curzon’s First Team manager John Flanagan was presented his award after being named the ‘Evo-Stik Division One North, Manager of the month for August’, the presentation was made by John Gavin of Bostik and Angie Firth Evo-Stik League Secretary.

John who took over as manager of Curzon in the close season firstly had the task of assembling a squad able to compete for promotion in the Division One North after being left only two of the players from the previous season. After a mixed pre-season with results and selecting his squad his team got off the a fantastic start winning their first six league games and grabbing a draw in the FA Cup after seeing his side go down to ten after only 20 minutes.

Curzon started off their campaign with a home win against Radcliffe Borough which was followed by a notable away win against promotion hopefuls Warrington Town.

Curzon then travelled to Garforth Town before having two home games against Ossett Albion and Railway Harrogate before travelling to Mossley on Bank Holiday Monday where they recorded the highest win of the season so far, 4-0.

The Mossley game was the first derby game that Curzon had to face and with John being an ex-manager of Mossley and obtaining some players from Mossley during the close season including their top goal-scorer Kristian Dennis it was a win that pleased many Curzon fans.

Club secretary Robert Hurst told the league website, "The board of Curzon Ashton FC congratulate John on his award on behalf of everyone at the club including the fans and hope that he can continue to win many more including pushing Curzon Ashton FC forward."
