Evans Keen For Top Five Push

Romulus update.

ROMULUS boss Richard Evans hailed his sides performances over the last week, challenging his side to use them as springboard to push for the play-offs.

After a shaky start to the season, the Roms knocked New Mills off the top of the table last weekend, condemning the Millers to their first defeat this season, before gaining a well earned point at Kidsgrove Athletic on Tuesday night in a fiesty encounter.

The Roms had lead 2-0 before being pegged back- Peter Faulds was sent off as both sides were reduced to ten men before Marvin Johnson missed an injury time penalty- but Evans said he was still pleased with the point.

"I'm not too disappointed, we scored twice early on and it's never an easy place to go.

"It's a good point away from home in midweek and not many sides will get anything there this season.

"Overall though, we've shown what we are capable of in the last two games- we are a good side and hopefully we can put a run together now."

This weekend, Romulus return to FA Cup action, playing their First Qualifying Round tie against Bridgnorth Town of the Midland Alliance at Chasetown this Sunday (Scholars Ground, Church Lane, KO 2pm).

Evans confirmed that midfielder Aaron Forde should recover from a knock in time for the match, with Romulus at full strength other than full back Robert Evans, who picked up an injury on Tuesday.

Evans added "It's a home tie on a good pitch at Chasetown- it's a good draw for us and we have to look to the most of it."
