Royal return for midfielder

Sutton Coldfield Town have brought home former Royal Craig Milligan.

Milligan, pictured, was part of the Royals squad that won the Birmingham Senior Cup in 2010-11 and could go straight into Neil Tooth's Evo-Stik NPL First Division South side who take on Chasetown at Coles Lane on Saturday.

Royals manager Tooth snapped up his man from league rivals Halesowen Town on Friday and admitted he'd been keeping tabs on the former Redditch, Willenhall Town, Chasetown, Daventry Town and Rugby Town player.

Tooth said: "Craig has been on the radar for a while. He is a player that I have known for a long time and a player, I trust. He's a player with a lot of experience at the level and just the kind we are delighted to bring in.

"As my assistant Ross Thorpe mentioned before, we have been linked to a lot of players lately, mainly with no truth in the stories but when I heard Milly was interested, we acted straight away.

"He is a player who can cover in midfield and at full-back and this really gives me another strong option when picking my starting eleven on a matchday which is needed at this time of the season."

Milligan is delighted to be back with the Royals. He said: "There is a good vibe around the club at the minute. It's a club I know and while some of the players have changed, the personnel around the club is still fairly similar to before.

"Since Neil took over, the team has flown up the league and when he told me about the objectives for the rest of the season and beyond, it was something that I was excited to be joining. Being back local as well allows my family to come and watch, which again was a very important factor."
