Royals boss Keogh quits

Sutton Coldfield Town announced tonight [Saturday] that long standing manager Chris Keogh has resigned.

But Keogh hasn't left the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club altogether following their surprise 1-0 home defeat in the FA Trophy's Preliminary Round to Gresley Rovers. Instead the Royals say he is immediately moving upstairs to take a seat on the club's board of directors.

After 12 years at the helm, Keogh decided to move away from the dressing room and direct management of the football team but will still remain active in his new capacity at the West Midlands club.

A Sutton Coldfield Town spokesman said: "The club hope to make an announcement within the next 48 hours regarding the vacant management position.

"The board wish to place on record their thanks to Chris for all his efforts and hard work over the years and all at Coles Lane will now look forward to the start of a new era for the club."
