Royals confirm change of legal status

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Sutton Coldfield Town have changed the club's legal structure in time for Christmas to become a limited company.

Previously a 'members club', the Royals officially became a company limited by guarantee on Friday. The switch means officials will be required to file accounts and details of directors at Companies House, giving fans of the First Division South club greater transparency.

The change offers other benefits for the club's future financial stability. For example, in the event of an uninsured accident where the club is liable but unable to pay, members and the directors are protected financially unless they have broken company law.

In a statement released by the club announcing their change in status, chairman Nick Thurston hailed the move and sent his best wishes to fans for the festive period.

Thurston, pictured, said: "The Board and I take great pleasure in announcing that as from 19th December, our club has changed from being a members club to a limited company.

"For most of you there will be no visible difference as we continue to grow the club and hopefully continue to have success on the field.

"However, behind the scenes, this change will ensure both financial stability and political stability which will enable us to concentrate on moving forward together.

"May I take this opportunity in wishing everyone associated with the club a merry Christmas and a happy and successful New Year!"
