Evo-Stik NPL First Division South

With the majority of the leaders in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South involved in FA Trophy action on Saturday, Gresley FC took advantage to move up to fourth place in the table, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Moatmen were at much-improved Market Drayton Town, but came away with all three points, courtesy of Rob Spencer's only goal of the game 16 minutes from time.

Sheffield FC missed the chance to go fourth after they were beaten 2-1 at home by Brigg Town.

Club looked like taking the points as they led through Shoquille McKenzie's 66th minute effort. But Adam Lee equalised in the 84th minute and James Walker won it for the Zebras a minute from the end.

Sutton Coldfield Town are fifth after winning 2-0 at Loughborough University.

Luke Chapman gave the Royals the lead four minutes before the break and then Ryan Simmonds made sure with a second right at the end of normal time.

Rainworth Miners Welfare are sixth after edging out Newcastle Town by the odd goal in five at Kirklington Road.

Neville Thompson gave Castle an early third minute lead that Blair Anderson cancelled out five minutes later. The next goal didn't arrive until the 65th minute when the Wrens went ahead through Danny Bacon, only for recent signing Christian Millar to level six minutes later. But Jordan Turner won it for Kevin Gee's men with five minutes remaining.

Carlton Town missed the chance to move into the top five after going down to a 1-0 home defeat to Mickleover Sports, for whom Martin Smith scored the only goal as early as early as the second minute.
